Chapora Fort: The Famous Fort of Goa

This fort, also called Shahpura Fort, was built by “Adil Shah.” Sambhaji Maharaj captured the fort in 1684; Marathas captured it in 1739, and then again by “Purtgaalees” in 1741. Now, eighty per cent of the fortress has only one store (Khandar), and the remaining twenty per cent of the fort are memorable fortunes of history. The fort is easily accessible and can be reached anywhere in Goa. The fort needs direct train or air connectivity. Road connectivity is proven to be the best one to the reached fort.
