    Patna Sahib-“holiest pilgrimage for the Sikh community.”

    Harmandir Takht Shri Patna Sahib is well known as Patna Sahib Gurudwara. It is one of the holiest pilgrimages for the Sikh community. In the Patna district of Bihar, this gurudwara is placed on the banks of the holy Ganga. It was constructed to commemorate the tenth Guru of Sikhs, Shri Guru Govind Singh. The gurudwara is considered the most important epicentre of Sikkhims in eastern India. Apart from this, Patna Sahib Gurudwara is the second accepted and acknowledge Takht. It includes a total of five Takht of Sikhism. 

    A morning prayer is held daily, called ardaas, here at 5:45 A.M., and evening prayer at 6:00 P.M. Also, the gurudwara offers free food or langar services to everyone who visits the gurudwara. So it is believed by the volunteer that the food is offered to the god. The place’s major attraction throughout the year is Prakash Parv and Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s anniversary. According to legends, an ardent devotee of Guru Nanak, Salis Rai Johri, was highly inspired by the teachings of the Sikh gurus. He transformed his lavish mansion into a Dharamshala (lodge), where Guru Tegh Bahadur is also said to have stayed.

    How to reach Patna Sahib

    Patna, the town is well connected by road, air and railways to different parts of the country. Patna airport is 19 km away from Gurudwara, and it takes 1 hour to reach Gurudwara from the airport. The nearest railway station is around 1.7 km from Gurudwara. You can also choose roadways medium and complete your journey by bus or taxi to reach Gurudwara. 

    Anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji

    According to the Gregorian calendar, Guru Gobind Singh was born on December 22, 1666. However, his birth anniversary is celebrated according to the lunar calendar. He was born in Patna and was the only son of Guru Tegh Bahadur and Mata Gujri. We observe this day to honour and remember a remarkable individual who was a warrior, philosopher, poet, and spiritual leader. In addition, Takhat Sri Harmandir Sahib Gurdwara in Patna Sahib has hosted multiple celebrations.

    Every year, countless pilgrims worldwide visit the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh to pray. Special langars are also arranged annually. It also shows in the movies where they show the structure of the Golghar granary. Golghar was designed by captain john Gerstein of the Bengal Engineers, part of the East India Companies. The architecture of this granary was completed on July 20 1786. It is one the most famous place nearby Patna city.

    Sri Krishna Science Center

    Srikrishna science centre is a science museum which is located in Patna. It is a National science museum in Patna where students learn many things. So, it was named after the first Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Krishna Sinha. This science museum was inaugurated in 1978 by the minister of education in Patna, Shri Thakur Pratap Singh. The science centre has been set up for the public’s benefit and especially students for their knowledge. The government provides several facilities to the students and several labs.

    Patna Planetarium

    Patna Planetarium is also known as the Indira Gandhi Planetarium, which is located in Patna. This Planetarium is the biggest in Asia. In 1989, the Planetarium was constructed through Bihar Council on Science & Technology. So, the name was taken from the former Prime Minister and leader of the Congress Party, Indira Gandhi, for this Planetarium. It attracts many tourists and foreign tourists through its beauty and film shows into the Planetarium. The Planetarium uses a traditional optomechanical projection of celluloid film.

    Best time to visit a holy site

    For a comfortable visit, it’s best to visit Patna Sahib Gurudwara between October and February when the weather is cooler. The place has a hot and humid climate in the summer, and in the rainy season, it receives a lot of rainfall. Therefore, these seasons are not advisable to visit the place. It is the renowned and most popular pilgrims site for the Sikhs community. Also, the gurudwara offers free food or langar services to everyone who visits the gurudwara. So it is believed by the volunteer that the food is offered to the god.
