    How to reach the land of seven forests Yercaud

    Tourists can visit Yercaud hill station through any transportation medium like by air, bus, and by rail. The nearest airport is Trichy, situated around 163 km away from Yercaud. You can take a taxi or car from the airport to reach Yercaud. Buses also run from south India place to Yercaud so you can easily get here.

    Agriculture and Festival of the Yercaud

    Another major source of income at Yercaud is agriculture with coffee. In 1820 coffee was first cultivated on “Grange Estate” when coffee plants were bought from Africa to Yercaud by Mr. M.D.Cockburn.

    The greatest summer festival is held during the middle of May when the annual celebration of Lord Servarayan takes place. So it is the presiding deity of the Shevory Hills. There are seven days of an exhibition held where dog shows, flower shoes, boating races, and a village fair are celebrated.

They are not original tribals but migrated from Kanchipuram about 500 years ago. The languages spoken in Yercadu are English and Tamil.

    The eastern ghats of Yercaud have a treasure trove of glorious flora and fauna. The place’s name comes from the Tamil word yeri, which means lake, and kaadu which means forest.     It is placed on a private coffee estate near the Norton bungalow nearest the Shervaroyan temple. The Bear’s Cave name is derived from the coffee estate as, besides coffee estates, lots of bears live here. Apart from this, it is a private estate, and its owner is kind, so it is open to the public. The most enchanting view to see is from 7 feet below the ground. The place offers you both a coffee plantation and a bear’s cave at one time.

    The best time to visit Yercaud is from October to June because the weather is dry and cool. However, the place offers you a picturesque view of the adventurous area and activities around the site. So you can fully enjoy the place with great enchantment. Due to heavy rainfall in summer, the place is not visitable. Food and staying facilities are easily available here at an affordable price.
