Chail Palace was originally the residence of Patiala’s Maharaja Bhupinder Singh. He used it as his summer palace. Later, in 1972, Himachal Tourism bought the palace and turned it into a heritage hotel.
There are Standard Rooms, Deluxe Rooms, Semi and Super Deluxe Rooms, Suites and Log Huts at the property. The log huts are a different experience for those who wish to feel close to nature.
Chail Palace has been a favourite of Bollywood directors and many movies such as ‘3 Idiots’ and ‘Yeh Zindagi’ have been shot here.
The perfect time to visit here would be in summer from April to June, or from November to March if you want to see snow. As this was a summer palace, it is an ideal place to spend the summer!
Shimla is the nearest railhead just 45 kilometres away from the Chail Palace. From there, you can take a cab to the palace or take a bus to Chail.
