Pushkar Lake: the holiest lake in India

Pushkar Lake is a major pilgrimage site for Hindus. The lake is considered a sacred lake by Hindus. This lake is located in the Ajmer district of Rajasthan. Pilgrims come here to take a bath from far away. Pushkar Lake is surrounded by more than 500 temples and 52 bathing ghats. Pushkar Lake is one of the five sacred lakes of Hinduism.

There is a temple of Brahmaji on the banks of the lake. It is the only temple dedicated to Brahmaji in India. It is a religious attraction for tourists. According to the legends, it is said that Lord Brahma’s flower strip fell at Isis’s place, which is why the lake was built here. The reason for this lake located in Pushkar is known as Pushkar Lake.

It is a pilgrimage site for the people of the Hindu religion. Thousands of devotees come to bathe here. People say that bathing in this holy lake will eliminate all their evil deeds. Various temples come along the banks of the Pushkar Lake, which increases the sanctity of this lake. It is said that about 500 temples surround Pushkar Lake. There is a temple of Brahmaji near the lake where lakhs of devotees come from far and wide.

52 Ghats near Pushkar Lake

52 places near the lake are used for holy bathing and rituals. It is said that the water in this lake has medicinal properties, which eliminate all kinds of problems.

There are 52 ghats here. Of these, the bones of Mahatma Gandhi were immersed at Gau Ghat. For this reason, Gau Ghat was named Gandhi Ghat.

Pushkar fair 

A fair is organized in Pushkar every year from 22 November to 30 November, which is famous as the Pushkar Fair. According to the Hindu calendar, the Pushkar fair is organized annually from Ekadashi to Kartik Purnima. This fair is organized on a large scale. Tourists come here to see the beauty of Rajasthani culture.

 Many thrilling competitions are held during the fair. This fair has been organized for 100 years and is very popular worldwide. Tourists come here from far away to experience the Rajasthani culture. Thrilling contests like cow and horse beauty contests, camel racing, horse shows, acrobatics, camel safaris, and many more are organized here. There is a thrilling competition at the fair where men compete to win the title of the tallest and most beautiful moustache. The show of wizards and snake charmers at the fair is also delightful.

Pushkar Bazaar

Pushkar Bazaar is popular with tourists. Here, jewellery, decoration, accessories, etc., are in the markets. This market is mainly famous for producing leather goods, puppets, and colourful bangles. This market displays Rajasthani culture and dress. This market is also famous for Rajasthani costumes.

Brahma temple

The Brahma temple dedicated to Lord Brahma is situated in the Ajmer district of Rajasthan. This is the only temple dedicated to Brahma Ji in India. Every year lakhs of pilgrims come here to see Brahma Ji. Pushkar is a sacred place because of the temple of Brahma Ji. Pushkar is mentioned in five holy pilgrimage sites of Hindus in India and 10 religious places worldwide.

This temple is 2000 years old. The Sanyasi sect operates the Brahma temple. In front of the Brahma temple is the holy Pushkar Lake, where lakhs of devotees come to the sacred lake to bathe.

Rangji Temple

Rangji Temple reflects the South Indian architectural style, and this temple is one of the holy temples of Pushkar. Rangji Temple is a temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is a famous destination for South Indian pilgrims.

Sunset point

It is one of the popular places in Pushkar. After visiting Pushkar, it is a perfect place to have a panoramic view of the sunset peacefully in the evening. It is a centre of attraction for foreign and local tourists. In the evening, people come here to see the sunset’s panoramic view and spend some time on the banks of the lake. At sunset, foreign tourists come to this place and perform fun activities like playing instruments, dancing, singing, etc.
